The Great Adventure

Ok, so it has been a really long time since I've blogged. I read other blogs of friends and teachers all the time, but never feel that my life is interesting enough to have a blog. God has been showing me that everyone is on a different path, a different great adventure and that my path doesn't and won't look like others. So, I'm going to give this blog thing another try. I need to journal everything that God has been doing the past six months, I need to see His faithfulness in the midst of chaos, and I need to see His goodness and praise Him for all of the sweet things that He has been doing in the midst of our new Great Adventure. The song below by Steven Curtis Chapman came to mind the other day as I was thinking of everything that has happened and is continuing to happen. I don't want to miss a single thing that He has for me...so here I go.

The Great Adventure by Steven Curtis Chapman

Saddle up your horses

Started out this morning in the usual way
Chasing thoughts inside my head of all I had to do today
Another time around the circle try to make it better than the last

I opened up the Bible and I read about me
Said I'd been a prisoner and God's grace had set me free
And somewhere between the pages it hit me like a lightning bolt
I saw a big frontier in front of me and I heard somebody say "let's go"!

CHORUS
Saddle up your horses we've got a trail to blaze
Through the wild blue yonder of God's amazing grace
Let's follow our leader into the glorious unknown
This is a life like no other - this is The Great Adventure

Come on get ready for the ride of your life
Gonna leave long faced religion in a cloud of dust behind
And discover all the new horizons just waiting to be explored
This is what we were created for

(Chorus)

BRIDGE
We'll travel over, over mountains so high
We'll go through valleys below
Still through it all we'll find that
This is the greatest journey that the human heart will ever see
The love of God will take us far beyond our wildest dreams

Yeah... oh saddle up your horses... come on get ready to ride

(Chorus)

Summer is in sight!

So much to do and should be grading papers, but thought that I would write a quick blog since it has been awhile.
May has been CRAZY!
Brad has been gone more than he has been home. We are very thankful and blessed for the work, but I don't know how military wives go months & years without seeing their husbands! I have missed him! Brad loves it though, which is also a blessing. He had the amazing opportunity to go to Hawaii to raise money to support children in Africa. What a beautiful place to go to ask for help for children in need. He loves being able to be a part of this ministry! I hope that God continues to bless him with more opportunities to raise money to bless the sweet boys and girls in Africa. He is helping to change the life stories of these sweet children, God is so good!

Only 8.5 days of school left! I can't believe how fast this year has gone. It has been a hard year with the group of kids that I have had this year, so in many ways I am ready for a summer break and then to start fresh in the fall. More importantly I am READY for all that summer brings. Yummy potato salad, barbecues, flip flops, pedicures, lazy afternoons at the pool, fireflies, aah! I also can't wait to work in the yard and catch up on some gardening. I need to get some summer flowers going, add to the new back bed, hopefully add some more landscaping to the backyard, and I have decided to start a herb garden. I think I will have plenty to keep me busy this summer! Also hoping to do some more decorating on the inside as Brad and I continue to work on the living room. The sofa should be here any time in the next two weeks and I hope that I can get the carpets cleaned and paint by then. I think I am overloading myself on top of finishing off the school year. Maybe carpet cleaning now and painting as soon as school gets out?
Well, this sounds like more of a list of things to do then a blog post! That is just everything going through my head. Right now I think it is time to make dinner. Meatloaf is on the England menu tonight! Yummy!

Vacation

I love vacation!! A time to get away from the norm of everyday and everyday responsibilities, to sleep in, lounge around, or go out on adventures and explore new things. This has been a great week to relax and to watch my husband working in action. I'm so proud of him! No wonder they continue to call him to come out of town. What a great guy!
So, vacation is almost over...not sure how I feel about that. I'm not really looking forward to going back to work, but with only 29 days of school left until Spring Break I say lets get this over with.

I've been praying for added patience for the last few weeks of school. I'm not giving up on them yet, I can't!! They are a crazy a group, but they still need a little bit more teaching, guidance and love. I'm hope is that they will be ready for third grade. Right now they are not....but we are going to work together and hopefully pull that off in the next 6 weeks.
So OK, I'm on vacation so no more talking about the 18 crazy monkeys that will be waiting for me on Monday morning. Back to exploring Springfield, we are headed to the best donut shop around!

What to write in a blog??

So, do I really have time for a blog? No! I work 40-50 hours a week and between that and keeping up around the house I should not be adding one more thing to my life. I have had several friends tell me though that journaling/writing in a diary is a great way to vent and kind of talk out loud, so I will give it a try. Thought it would be fun to post some pictures too! So let the blogging journey begin......
